Introducing the newest MSCOne member - ELEMENTS

Explore a smarter way to access CAE technology

As of 2023, Hexagon announced the addition of Elements, powered by Maplesoft. Hexagon | MSC Software’s MSCOne is the ultimate compilation of cutting-edge simulation software that empowers engineers and manufacturers to conquer advanced challenges. With the unique token system, access to the comprehensive suite of CAE software has never been more flexible, thanks to the licensing solution that accommodates everything between OEM enterprises and startups.
The solution was launched in mid-2015 due to accelerated product portfolio growth and to accommodate MSC Software’s Multiphysics vision and the inclusion of specialist engineering tools for acoustics, material modelling and manufacturing. The token system was well received as it provided extended technical capabilities with reduced financial risk.
By adopting MSCOne, organisations gain unparalleled flexibility in allocating simulation resources across teams and sites. This newfound agility enables engineers to swiftly respond to evolving engineering priorities, ensuring optimal resource allocation and maximizing productivity.

Optimise capability with capacity

The biggest advantage of the solution is that it allows businesses to balance their capabilities and requirements with their number of users, thanks to the token system. The tokens can even be used to increase computational resources for large, time-intensive simulations. And it does not stop there…

A licensing system that evolves with technology

Because MSCOne is a lease-based solution, engineers will always have access to the latest partnerships and acquisitions from Hexagon and MSC Software. Users do not only have access to their traditional CAE tools but automatically gain access to all the new technologies. In short – if you have MSCOne, chances are very likely that you will have everything you need from your CAE toolbox, plus whatever the future will provide us to aid our computational engineering efforts.
The past decade has been a testimony to the accelerated innovation and growth of Hexagon Design & Engineering (MSC Software). In the past decade, more products have been added to MSCOne, compared to the previous 50 years since the company was founded. From the past to the accelerated future, Hexagon is one of the first CAE suppliers to see and incorporate the value of AI and ML in the world of simulation technology to assist with engineering innovation and commercial competitiveness.

Introducing the newest MSCOne member - ELEMENTS

As of 2023, Hexagon announced the acquisition of Maplesoft’s Elements. Elements is an intuitive performance and feasibility simulation interface with drag-and-drop component libraries for multi-physics system design and evaluation. It can also connect other CAE products within the MSCOne portfolio to design and evaluate systems and multidisciplinary products.
Elements provides a user-friendly approach to modelling, designing, and simulating systems. It offers comprehensive libraries and does not require extensive coding knowledge, making it easily accessible. With this tool, users can gain a better understanding of system performance by modelling multiple domains in a single interface, allowing them to consider physical interactions during design and feasibility studies. Additionally, it enables users to make informed decisions in the early stages of development, as they can ask fundamental system integration and design questions even before having sufficient data to create traditional Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) models, thus defining the design direction.
Elements reduces bottlenecks between departments by enabling the connection of components from other product packages through Functional Mock-up Units (FMUs). Additionally, it offers extended capabilities specifically designed for Hexagon products. With its powerful and computationally efficient nature, the tool applies a customized solving method to each component within the system, ensuring there is no compromise between model fidelity and performance. Moreover, users have the freedom to customize the tool according to their specific needs, as it provides expert-written libraries and empowers domain specialists to inspect, enhance, or expand the equations within each component.

Bringing it all together, for now, and the future

Moving closer to simulating reality, MSCOne is also the best tool to bring solvers together with its Co-sim engine. Different computational solvers can be coupled directly with MSCOne tokens to generate results with increased accuracy and to accommodate advanced physics.

Whether more products will join the pioneering MSC Software and its revolutionary licensing systems, is more a matter of “when” rather than “if”. As we speak, the acquisition of the Austrian-based Additive Manufacturing specialist company, CADS Additive, has been announced.

MSCOne revolutionizes the way designers and engineers access CAE simulation software. Say goodbye to multiple licenses and disparate platforms, as MSCOne provides a smarter solution with a vast selection of world-class software, all consolidated within a single, subscription-based platform. Enjoy the convenience of accessing a diverse range of tools, empowering you to tackle complex simulations efficiently and drive innovation within your organization.
