We are pleased to announce the availability of the Romax software suite on MSCOne. If you or your teams work in the design or simulation of transmissions, gears, bearings, electric machines, or any other type of rotating machinery, Romax could provide you with leading technology that helps you meet your design targets and streamline your processes.
You can use Romax software to design, analyse and optimise gearboxes, transmissions and electric powertrains for durability, efficiency and noise & vibration, greatly reducing risk and development time to get high-quality, innovative designs into production faster.
Romax products are based on trusted and validated proprietary technology, combining full system parametric models, world-leading gear and bearing contact algorithms, and an intelligent combination of analytical, empirical, and finite element methods, delivering an appropriate blend of speed and accuracy for the application and level of fidelity. It is very easy to build and edit models, and run upfront analyses to understand the effect of design changes and act on engineering insights – adopting a CAE-led design process. Romax offers a whole system approach, to understand complex component interactions, and integrates with other Hexagon tools and beyond, to promote collaboration, efficient working, and productivity. Please find below a short overview of the six Romax products and their capabilities, with links to find out more. Note that you may need to request an updated license covering the added software from your sales admin.
Romax Concept is an easy-to-use environment for the rapid assessment of drivetrain layouts, to set design direction and derisk development. Create complex drivetrain layouts in minutes, with drag-and-drop modelling and links to CAD, and perform fast analyses for early stage assessment of durability, efficiency and NVH performance, to make informed engineering decisions, improve product quality and accelerate innovation.
Romax Enduro provides rapid and intuitive modelling, detailed structural simulation and component rating for powertrain durability design, analysis and optimisation. Enduro helps powertrain engineers and gear designers answer ‘what-if’ questions, to improve performance and robustness from initial concept investigation through to design for manufacture and virtual testing.
Romax Spectrum provides full system NVH simulation, analysis and optimisation from gear and electric machine design through to radiated noise, so that engineers can deliver higher quality products in less time and with less prototyping. Its fast yet accurate frequency domain analysis approach is well-suited for NVH investigations starting from the early design stage, to answer ‘what-if’ questions and resolve noise problems.
Romax Energy offers comprehensive methods to predict power loss and efficiency at both a component and system level. Users can make changes to the component design or lubricant specification and investigate the effect on efficiency while balancing other performance criteria.
Romax Spin provides advanced simulation of rolling element bearings as part of a full electro-mechanical system, providing bearing experts, designers and engineers the independent insights needed to design, select, analyse and optimise bearings and predict their performance in a variety of applications. Spin’s features for sharing information while protecting IP make it a trusted space for supplier and consumer collaboration.
Dedicated to electric machine design, Romax Evolve provides multi-fidelity tools for structural and NVH analysis of eMachines, from initial studies through to validation with test data. Geometry, efficiency, and electromagnetic forces can be imported from electromagnetic analysis tools to aid modelling and analysis processes, while integration with other Romax products allows designers to test their eMachine in a full ePowertrain system.
