Reflecting on 2024: A Successful Year and Exciting Future Ahead!

As we approach the end of another dynamic year, we reflect on the incredible milestones we’ve achieved together.

One of the highlights of this season was the TCC24 event held on November 14th, which was a big success. We are proud to have been a sponsor and to have played a part in making this event such a memorable and impactful experience for all involved.

This year has certainly been a busy one, filled with challenges, hard work, and growth. As we wrap up 2024, it’s clear that everyone has earned a well-deserved break to recharge and reflect on all that has been accomplished.

Looking ahead, we are excited about the opportunities and possibilities that 2025 holds.

We can’t wait to see what the new year brings and are eager to continue growing, collaborating, and achieving even greater success together.

Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment.

Wishing you all a joyful holiday season and a happy, prosperous New Year!

Regards

Managing Director

TCC24

Simteq Engineering was proud to have been a sponsor at the TANDM Community Connect (TCC24) event, which took place on the 14th of November at Future Africa UP.
The event offered a day of valuable insights into the future of Test and Measurement, with industry leaders sharing their expertise and innovations.
Attendees had the opportunity to explore new technologies and hear directly from TANDM customers about how they were using cutting-edge solutions to tackle exciting challenges.

CAEfatigue

CAEfatigue is a powerful FE-based tool used to conduct durability analyses and it is an industry leader in the frequency domain.
Although CAEfatigue has a comprehensive set of tools to conduct durability analyses in the frequency domain, it also has all the tools to do the same in the time domain but much faster than its competitors.
CAEfatigue can do all the normal S-N, ε-N, spot weld and seam weld durability analyses, the different types of analyses can even be combined into a single analysis if the user requires it.

This however is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of the capabilities that CAEfatigue has to offer and some of the more advanced capabilities are:

  • Time to PSD
  • Random response and collision detection
  • Loads cascading
  • Test design and simplification
  • Surrogate loading
  • Loads tunning
  • Service loads derivation

One of the more recent additions to CAEfatigue that is not mentioned above is Robust Design.

Robust Design

This new technology allows the user to re-run multiple MSC Nastran jobs consecutively while changing the input parameters for each run, the outputs from these runs are used to create a correlation map of input parameters vs. outputs. This shows what effect each of the inputs has on the outputs.

This allows the user to make better design decisions based on a holistic view of how the model reacts under all inputs.

Other interesting additions that are also noteworthy:

Automatic Generation of Load Scenario using Time Histories

Various loading scenarios can be created automatically for a time-domain analysis, instead of having to create the loading scenarios manually.  This automation will prevent errors from occurring and will speed up the analysis setup.

Multiaxial Stress Assement for Time Histories:

If the user is unsure which analysis method to use in CAEfatigue because the loading is proportional or disproportional, the new multiaxial assessment capability will allow the user to check the level of multiaxiality in the stress output. Based on the level of multiaxiality the user can decide if standard analysis methods or a more accurate critical plane approach should be used.

Composite Material Outputs from Nastran are Supported:

CAEfatigue can now import the stresses from a Nastran composite material analysis (using PCOMP or PCOMPG entries). This expands the interoperability of CAEfatigue with MSC Nastran output results.

Celebrating Excellence: Paul Naudé Wins Second Prize at the 2024 RAPDASA Design Competition!

We are thrilled to announce that our very own Managing Director, Paul Naudé, has earned second prize in the 2024 RAPDASA Design Competition.

Paul was awarded an Akhani 3D Voucher worth R5,000 for his outstanding design. We are incredibly proud and feel blessed to have such a creative and dedicated leader at the helm of our company.

Congratulations also go to Thato Leseme, who won first prize, and Hesti Wade, who claimed third prize. A big round of applause to these talented individuals for their exceptional work!

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Akhani 3D for organizing such a fantastic competition and for their contribution to making the 25th anniversary celebration a resounding success.

MSC CoSim 2024.1

Don’t miss the newest version of MSC CoSim, now available in the Software Download Center.

Tackle complex coupled physics problems using Hexagon’s most accurate and reliable simulation technologies. Adopting MSC Cosim in your design and verification workflow allows you to test system behaviour in a virtual environment and make early-stage predictions of how interacting physical phenomena will impact designs. Discover unintended effects and make timely iterations earlier in the design process for more efficient product development

What you can look forward to in MSC CoSim 2024.1

In this newest version of MSC CoSim we have added a few functionalities that will make multiphysics co-simulation workflows even more robust and efficient:

  • Marc/scFLOW: Restart completed jobs to divide large jobs into multiple parts and use computational resources more efficiently.
  • MSC Nastran/Marc/scFLOW: Enable and disable the six degrees of freedom separation for MSC Nastran/Marc coupled simulations with a simple setting in the graphic interface.
  • Usability:
    • Run MSC CoSim jobs on Linux without starting the MSC CoSim Launcher or launching each solver and MSC CoSim separately.
    • Perform scFLOW and Adams/scFLOW couplings quickly with new command specification options in the graphic interface.

MSC Apex Tip
With MSC Apex you can probe your results and get a tabular output of your selected results. These results can then be exported as a comma separated text file for further use.

Depending on the results you want to investigate you can either choose a Deformed Shape, Fringe or Vector plot, choose the probe tool and select the grid point that you want to probe. To get the tabular data from MSC Apex you just need to select the Show Probe Data Grid option and finally, if you wish, you can export the tabular data in .csv format.
