Adams – The gold standard in multibody dynamic simulation.

Multibody dynamics (MBD) delves into the movement and interaction of interconnected rigid or flexible bodies. As the world's foremost and most widely adopted multibody dynamics software, Adams significantly enhances engineering efficiency while cutting down on product development costs by facilitating early validation of system-level designs.

Engineers also utilize Adams to model and simulate intricate interactions between subsystems and components, such as contact, friction and the interaction with control systems. Adams helps to optimize systems and component designs for peak performance, safety, and comfort. With its comprehensive analysis capabilities, Adams is tailored for tackling large-scale problems and leveraging high-performance computing environments to their fullest.

Employing multibody dynamics solution technology, Adams executes nonlinear dynamics simulations in a fraction of the time typically required by Finite Element Analysis (FEA) solutions. The loads and forces computed through Adams simulations improve the accuracy of FEA by providing a more comprehensive understanding of their variations across a full spectrum of motion and operating conditions.

Multidiscipline Solutions

The complete Adams software package includes various modules optimized for specific use cases. These modules allow for accurate integration of mechanical components, pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, and control system technologies into the simulation model.

Adams Control & Adams Mechatronics

Most advanced mechanical systems rely heavily on control systems. Without adequate simulation tools, the interactions and relationships between the mechanical components and electronically operated control systems would be increasingly difficult to model. Adams Control and Adams Mechatronics enable you to merge your intricate control systems built in EASY5, MATLAB/Simulink, or Elements with your mechanical system to be modeled and simulated in Adams.

Adams Car

Adams Car with its associated vertical products like Adams Tire, Adams Driveline and Adams Chassis to name a few, allows you to build and test prototypes of complete vehicles or vehicle sub-systems. With pre-setup suspension and full vehicle analyses, as well as pre-defined common outputs, seeing the response of your vehicle or component because of a specific event has never been easier.

Adams Flex & Adams Viewflex

Adams Flex brings cutting-edge tech to the table, ensuring that a component's flexibility is accurately represented, even amidst dynamic motion and complex interactions with other model elements. As the industry shifts towards faster, lighter, and more precise mechanical systems, understanding deformation effects in structural components becomes vital for design analyses, making the rigid body assumption outdated.

Adams Flex makes it easy to import finite element models from popular FEA software packages. Integrated seamlessly with the Adams package, it offers user-friendly modeling tools and powerful post-processing features, streamlining engineering simulations for enhanced productivity and effectiveness.

• Integrate FEA-based flexible bodies into your model.
• Better represents structural compliance.
• Predict loads and displacements with greater accuracy.
• Examine the linear system modes of a flexible model.
• Broad and convenient control over modal participation and damping.
The ViewFlex module in Adams View enables users to transform a rigid part to an MNF-based flexible body using embedded finite element analysis where a meshing step and linear modes analysis will be performed. The ViewFlex module is powered by MSC Nastran.

Utilizing the combined technologies of Adams and Nastran you can now create flexible bodies without having to rely on external software packages or 3rd party FEA software.

Adams Durability

Durability testing stands as a crucial aspect of the modern design processes. Adams Durability, integrated with MSC Fatigue, offers the capability to evaluate stress, strain, and component life within your mechanical system. With Adams Durability, users can leverage physical test data and captured loads to correlate their analysis models effectively.

Additionally, it facilitates the export of loads to Finite Element Analysis (FEA) packages for in-depth stress analyses, enhancing the overall assessment of system durability and reliability.

Machinery in Adams

Adams Machinery, an integral part of the Adams simulation suite, offers a comprehensive array of tools for modeling diverse mechanical drive systems. From gears and belts to chains, cables, cams, bearings, and electric motors, users have the flexibility to construct their mechanical systems with unprecedented accuracy.

Each module within Adams Machinery is equipped with its own user interface, facilitating streamlined setup processes for individual components. This approach not only saves time but also minimizes uncertainty, empowering users to create intricate mechanical systems with confidence and efficiency.

How SpaceX reinvented the rocket!

On 14 March 2024, SpaceX continued to push what we thought was possible. For the second time ever all 33 Raptor engines of the Super Heavy Booster set the sky on fire while successfully completing a full duration burn. After completing its test flight Super Heavy proceeded to light several engines to initiate the landing procedure. Unfortunately, the rocket experienced a RUD - That’s SpaceX-speak for “rapid unscheduled disassembly”.

To Elon Musk, the owner of SpaceX, this was not too much of a problem and the reason is quite simple. In the words of the man himself, “If things are not failing, you are not innovating enough!”

The fact that the team at SpaceX managed to successfully return and safely land most of the rocket is already impressive enough but what makes it even more impressive is the fact that they are doing this with re-usable rockets!
