What a year it’s been so far! Our Annual Users’ Conference was a huge success—highlighted by the launch of the VTX-200 Educational Desktop Wind Tunnel. We also hosted impactful Injection Molding Tech Days, while our Friday Lunch & Learn and Sharpen the Saw sessions continue to bring practical knowledge and fresh perspectives to our community.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to connect with you at the Stillam Group Event on 21 October and proud to be sponsoring the TANDM TCC25 on 25 November. It’s been 30 years of engineering innovation at SIMTEQ, and we’re just getting started.

Best Regards

CAEfatigue

CAEfatigue is a powerful FE-based tool used to conduct durability analyses and it is an industry leader in the frequency domain.
Although CAEfatigue has a comprehensive set of tools to conduct durability analyses in the frequency domain, it also has all the tools to do the same in the time domain but much faster than its competitors.
CAEfatigue can do all the normal S-N, ε-N, spot weld and seam weld durability analyses, the different types of analyses can even be combined into a single analysis if the user requires it.

This however is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of the capabilities that CAEfatigue has to offer and some of the more advanced capabilities are:

  • Time to PSD
  • Random response and collision detection
  • Loads cascading
  • Test design and simplification
  • Surrogate loading
  • Loads tunning
  • Service loads derivation

One of the more recent additions to CAEfatigue that is not mentioned above is Robust Design.

Robust Design

This new technology allows the user to re-run multiple MSC Nastran jobs consecutively while changing the input parameters for each run, the outputs from these runs are used to create a correlation map of input parameters vs. outputs. This shows what effect each of the inputs has on the outputs.

This allows the user to make better design decisions based on a holistic view of how the model reacts under all inputs.

Other interesting additions that are also noteworthy:

Automatic Generation of Load Scenario using Time Histories

Various loading scenarios can be created automatically for a time-domain analysis, instead of having to create the loading scenarios manually.  This automation will prevent errors from occurring and will speed up the analysis setup.

Multiaxial Stress Assement for Time Histories:

If the user is unsure which analysis method to use in CAEfatigue because the loading is proportional or disproportional, the new multiaxial assessment capability will allow the user to check the level of multiaxiality in the stress output. Based on the level of multiaxiality the user can decide if standard analysis methods or a more accurate critical plane approach should be used.

Composite Material Outputs from Nastran are Supported:

CAEfatigue can now import the stresses from a Nastran composite material analysis (using PCOMP or PCOMPG entries). This expands the interoperability of CAEfatigue with MSC Nastran output results.

VTX-200 Educational Desktop
Wind Tunnel

For decades, SIMTEQ has empowered engineers with world-class simulation tools. But as simulation became the norm, hands-on experience quietly faded.

The VTX-200 closes this gap with an affordable, desktop wind tunnel—bringing real aerodynamic testing back into students’ hands. Compact and interactive, it lets them design, 3D-print, and test models, directly comparing results with CFD simulations.

With the VTX-200, students gain not just data but intuition—combining the best of simulation and real-world experience.

MSC CoSim 2025.1

Don’t miss the newest version of MSC CoSim, now available in the Software Download Center.

Tackle complex coupled physics problems using Hexagon’s most accurate and reliable simulation technologies. Adopting MSC Cosim into your design and verification workflow allows you to test system behaviour in a virtual environment and make early-stage predictions of how interacting physical phenomena will impact designs. Discover unintended effects and make timely iterations earlier in the design process for more efficient product development.

What you can look forward to in MSC CoSim 2025.1

In this newest version of MSC CoSim we have added a few functionalities that improve your productivity and increase the robustness of MSC CoSim:

  • Adams/Marc: Support for Marc estimated time increment
  • Marc/scFLOW and MSC Nastran/scFLOW: added minimum number of CoSim iteration loops parameter

Marc 2025.1

Don’t miss the newest version of Marc, now available in the Software Download Center.

Hexagon is excited to announce the release of Marc 2025.1, which offers significant enhancements from previous versions. Mentat has an improved user experience, the previous analysis state (also called pre state) has more capabilities, the hybrid contact formulation is updated, and we introduced a new subroutine for user-defined materials.

What you can look forward to in Marc 2025.1

Hybrid contact formulation updates:The double-sided contact algorithm has penalty-based enforcements for faster simulation run times and improved robustness and accuracy. This upgraded algorithm is now the default for new structural analyses.

A new user material subroutine called UMATERIAL:The UMATERIAL user material subroutine removes previous limitations and offers a more streamlined and flexible user experience.

Previous analysis state enhancements: Use the results of previous analyses as the initial state for new simulations. Use HDF5 files, map to larger models, and work with multiple result files.

New features and an improved user experience in Mentat:Get deeper insight into material behavior by viewing cutting planes in cylindrical coordinate systems, along with stress triaxiality output. The improved lighting option is enabled by default, the triad has been refreshed, and several other enhancements deliver a smoother and more intuitive user experience.
