Getting started with Romax

The following steps are for the installation of Romax DT. Romax DT is a bundle of Romax products aimed at the design and development of electro-mechanical powertrains and includes the following products:

Romax Enduro: For structural and durability analyses,
Romax Spectrum: For NVH analyses,
Romax Energy: For efficiency analyses,
Romax Spin: For bearing design.

The installation steps for Romax Concept and Romax Evolve, which do not form part of the Romax DT bundle, will be similar to what is given below.

Step 1 – Hexagon Design and Engineering Support

Go to the Software Download Center on the Hexagon Design and Engineering Support page

Step 2 – Software Download Center

Log into the Software Download Center and click on the Romax DT link. This will open up a page showing the latest version of Romax DT available to download and any updates for this specific version.

Step 3 – Download Romax DT

When you click on the Romax DT name shown in Step 2, it will take you to a page that shows the installation file. If you click on the file name to the right the install file should begin its download. You can repeat this process for any available updates.

Step 4 – Unzipping and Software Installation Guide

The Romax DT install file that you downloaded is a .zip file. It is recommended that you copy the file from its download location to a folder of your choice and unzip it into that folder. Once unzipped, you can go to the Install folder and run the executable setupRomaxDT.exe. For more information about the installation process, you can go to the Docs folder where you will find a .pdf file named “Romax Software Installation Guide” outlining the installation process and giving more detailed information.

Step 5 – Application Requirements

Once you’ve double-clicked the setupRomaxDT.exe file Windows will ask if you want to make changes to your device, click Yes. The Romax DT installation will now begin. During the installation process, the installer will show the screen below, indicating that it needs to install the software shown to continue. Click Next to continue.

Step 6 – Installation Wizard Start

Click Next when the installer indicates that it will now install Romax DT on your PC.

Step 7 – License Agreement

This window asks if you want to review the license agreement, if you want to go through the agreement click the “Click here to view” button, otherwise check the tick box that indicates you accept the license agreement and click Next.

Step 8 – Installation Location

You can now choose the installation folder for Romax DT. For the purpose of the guide, it will be kept to the default location. Once you are satisfied with the installation path, click Next to continue.

Step 9 – Windows Start Menu Grouping

In this step you can choose how the Romax DT icons will be grouped in the Windows Start menu and whether it should be visible for the current user only or for all users. Once satisfied click Start to continue.

Step 10 – Complete the Installation

Once the installation has completed the window below will show. If you have the tick box checked Romax Home will open once you click Finish.

Step 11 – Romax Home

From the Romax Home kicker you can click on Romax DT.

Step 12 – License Selection

For a Hexagon|MSC license (Only available with MSC One license after 2023/03):
Set the License Provider to MSC. Under License Path point to the port of your MSC One license file in the format as shown.

Step 13 – Module Selection

If the license setup above is successful Romax DT will open and the License Browser below will pop up. In this window, you can pick which modules to check out, or if appropriate just check out all modules using the Use all button. Once done click Save, acknowledge the pop-up and click Close.

I only used it for my studies, I only wanted to evaluate the software, I didn't use if for commercial purposes, I only installed it, but never used it... Unfortunately, no reason holds up in court for the possession of stolen goods.

THE FINE?
The full commercial purchase price of the software (for everything you had access to, whether or not it was even used!)

Students (under- or post-graduate) also has no recourse since they can get access to free legal student versions, or the full commercial versions through their respective universities.
If you wish to evaluate any software or module that you do not have access to, please contact us, we will gladly arrange for evaluation licenses, even emergency licenses.

There is just no reason to access illegal software.
