PUTTING INNOVATION TO THE TEST

The Mars Stage Final challenged participating teams to demonstrate their rovers' capabilities on a specially prepared course inspired by the Martian environment. Each challenge tested the rovers' functionality, manoeuvrability, and reliability, requiring students to apply their engineering knowledge and adapt to real-world obstacles.

From navigating rocky terrain to detecting objects and avoiding obstacles, each challenge tested the reliability, manoeuvrability, and functionality of the students' designs. The event provided an opportunity to see different engineering approaches in action, with each team presenting its own interpretation of an effective robotic exploration vehicle.

Some rovers featured sophisticated suspension systems, while others demonstrated innovative approaches to locomotion, sensing, and remote operation. Each design reflected the creativity, technical capabilities, and determination of its student engineering team.

Mechanical Design

Developing practical rover structures, suspension systems, and mechanical components.

Terrain Navigation

Testing rover mobility across rocky, uneven, and challenging surfaces.

Object Detection

Using sensors, programming, and control systems to identify objects and respond to their surroundings.

Teamwork & Problem-Solving
