Actran is used to perform Acoustic Simulation of a wide range of Acoustic problems. It is used extensively by the Transport industry (e.g. Aerospace and Automotive), Machinery manufacturers and by Consumer Goods manufacturers (e.g. Power Tools and Cameras).
Some of the capabilities in Actran include:
Acoustic Mode Calculation
Standard and Convected Acoustic calculation
Acoustic Cavity calculation
Porous-media at walls for absorbers
Sound propagation in Ducts and Buildings
Interact with Elastic structures to include vibration
The following sections provide an overview of some of these capabilities in Actran.
In models where a structure's vibration causes acoustic waves or where the acoustic pressure causes vibrations (or boht), Actran can couple with a modal model of the structure. Examples of Vibro-Acoustic problems include:
Acoustic musical instrument
Rocket payload after launch
Refrigerators and other Appliances
Actran can model noise due to Unsteady and Turbulent Flow. Flow results from a range of CFD software
can be used as an input in the acoustic calculations. Examples of Aero-Acoustic problems include:
Air conditioner ducts
Statistical Energy Analysis
Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA) methods is an efficient method to model Noise Transmission in Large structures for medium- to high-frequencies. Actran can use existing Vibro-Acoustic models as an input to create the SEA model.
